Marta Ortega-Gaspar is PhD in Sociology (University of Malaga) with the European Mention (2008). Extraordinary Award of PhD (Málaga Faculty of Econocmics, 2009). Expertise in Applied Social Research and Data Analysis (Centro de Investigaciones Sociológicas, CIS, 1994) and BA Sociology and Political Science (Complutense University, Madrid, 1993). Diplomate of Sociology (Pontificia University of Salamanca). Currently she is a Senior Lecturer of Sociology at University of Málaga. She has been a researcher fellow at City London University (UK, 2007), University of Oxford Institute of Population Ageing, OIPA (UK, 2012, 2015) and University of Jena (Germany, 2015).

Her research interest is focused on work-family balance from a comparative perspective, family, gender, children well-being, informal social support, ageing and social policies. She has participated in many National Research Project. Her research work has been recognized by the Extraordinary Grant of Doctorate (Economy Section), University of Málaga (2008) and the Quality Mention of the Andalusia Association of Sociology, 2013.

She has been the main researcher of the Project: ‘Social Change and Care in Andalusia’, Fundación Pública Andaluza, Centro de Estudios Andaluces, Consejería de la Presidencia e Igualdad. She has coordinated with Dr. Rafael Gobernado Arribas the I+D Project: ‘Children Care and Gender’, funded by Ministry of Work and Social Affairs. Currently she is a member of the research group ‘Father involvement related to children care and children well-being’ Governmental Programme of Research, Development and Innovation oriented to the New Society Challenges’. Her paper has been published in high impact scientific journals as: European Societies, Applied Research in Quality of Life, Journal of Population and Ageing, Revista de Responsabilidad Social de la Empresa, Revista Española de Sociología, Papers.
