Félix Requena is Professor of Sociology at the University of Málaga (1996-). PhD in Sociology, by Complutense University of Madrid (1989). Previously he was Professor at the University of Santiago de Compostela. He has been the XXth President of the Center for Sociological Research (2012-2016). He has been National Coordinator of Social Sciences at ANEP (2007-2010). He was Deputy Director-General of Social and Labor Statistics of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (1998-2002), representative of Spain in the Committee on Social Protection Indicators in the European Commission (Brussels, 2001-2002), and in the Committee for Social Capital Measurement in the OECD (London, 2002).

He has been visiting scholar in the Department of Sociology at the London School of Economics (1991) and John Jay College of Criminal Justice at University of New York (1995). His areas of research focuses on analysis of social networks, social capital, and comparative analyzes of social structure in developed countries. He has carried out research financed by Ministry of Culture, MEC, MICINN, DGICYT, MTAS, Junta de Andalucía, Xunta de Galicia, etc. He is the author of twelve books, as well as more than fifty academic journals in high-impact journals.
